چکیده

Vascular ring caused by double aortic arch most commonly occurs as an isolated anomaly (Keith, Rowe, and Vlad, I967). However, its association with pulmonary stenosis (Bahnson and Blalock, I950), tetralogy of Fallot (Griswold and Young, I949; Stewart, Kincaid, and Edwards, I964), truncus arteriosus (Kerwin, I936), ventricular septal defect and left superior vena cava (Lincoln et al., I969), and coarctation (Stewart et al., I964), has been described. This paper reports the association of double aortic arch and D-transposition of the great arteries, ventricular septal defect, and pulmonary stenosis, and is thought to be the first such case report.

Three Cases of a Rare Association: Double Aortic Arch

Background Vascular ring is less than 1% of congenital heart disease. Double aortic arch (DAA) is the most common form of it.  Its detecting is important because of the effects of pressure on the esophagus and trachea. Case Report In this study, three children suffering from double aortic arch with symptoms of dysphagia and recurrent aspiration, which in two cases had led to cardiac arrest, wer...

Association of VACTERL with truncus arteriosus, left-sided aortic arch, hypoplastic pulmonary arteries, and severe radial axis defect

Background: VACTERL association is usually a sporadic disorder, the possible etiologies of which have been proposed as familial as well as multiple genetic and environmental factors. VACTERL association usually consists of at least three of the core features of vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, tracheoesophageal fistula, renal anomalies, and limb abnormalities. Vertebral anomali...

Stridor in a Newborn with Double Aortic Arch-A Case Report

Introduction: Double aortic arch (DAA) is a congenital anomaly of the aortic arch. It is the most common type of complete vascular ring. When it occurs, the connected segment of the aortic arch and its branches encircle the trachea and esophagus, leading to symptoms related to these two structures. Case Report: We present a case of a newborn baby who developed biphasic stridor immediately after...

A Turner syndrome case associated with anal atresia, interrupted aortic arch and multicystic dysplastic kidney.

Although renal and cardiac malformations are commonly seen in Turner syndrome (TS), anorectal malformations, multicystic dysplastic kidney and interrupted aortic arch are quite rare in TS. A newborn with TS with three quite rare congenital malformations (imperforate anus/anal atresia associated with rectovestibular fistula, interrupted aortic arch, and multicystic dysplastic kidney) is presented.

Management of an elderly patient with respiratory failure due to double aortic arch

Vascular rings are congenital malformations of the aortic arch. A double aortic arch (DAA), the most common type of vascular ring, results from the failure of the fourth embryonic branchial arch to regress, leading to an ascending aorta that divides into a left and right arch that fuse together to completely encircle the trachea and esophagus. The subsequent DAA causes compressive effects on th...
